Your dental crown restoration is strong and reliable, but that doesn’t mean it will last forever. You need to clean and care for your dental crown regularly to keep it in tip-top shape. If you care for your restoration, it can last many years. So, our dentist, Dr. Stephen Woodard, encourages you to keep your dental crown in tip-top shape by doing the following things:

-Brush: Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste to brush your dental crown (as well as all your other teeth) every morning and night. Brushing can remove the plaque and bacteria from around the crown to help you prevent gum disease and to keep the crown in top-notch condition.

-Floss: Floss around your dental crown (as well as your other teeth) at least once a day. As you floss, use a product that is easier to maneuver. That way you don’t have any trouble removing the harmful substances from each side of the crown.

-Visit your dentist: It’s vital to attend your routine dental checkups every six months. When you come to our office, our dental team will deeply clean your teeth and crown. This can help remove the stubborn and dangerous substances (like tartar) from around your crown. It will also allow us to check your crown to make sure it’s in tip-top shape.
